The Dibba Al-Hisn Sports and Cultural Club men’s handball team left yesterday morning via Dubai International Airport, heading to the Omani capital, Muscat, to represent the UAE handball in the 41st edition of the Gulf Clubs Cup Champions Championship, which is hosted by the Oman Club during the period from February 15 to 24.
The mission is headed by Saeed Mohammed Ahmed Al-Amel, member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Group Games Committee, assisted by Abdullah Saeed Al-Watri, Deputy Head of the Mission and Chairman of the Individual Games Committee, along with Supervisor Ali Obaid Ahmed Al-Qahtani and Administrator Saeed Nasser Al-Naimi. The team is led by coach Captain Habib Haba, who supervises 21 players on the official list participating in the tournament, as part of the club’s efforts to achieve an honorable performance that reflects the development of Emirati handball on the Gulf scene.
Dibba Al-Hisn will begin its journey in the tournament with a strong match against the tournament host, the Omani team, in the opening match, as the team seeks to provide a strong start that enhances its chances in the competition. The team was placed in the second group alongside highly competitive teams, including Al Arabi of Qatar, Kuwait of Kuwait, in addition to the host Oman of Oman, which makes the competition strong and requires great focus from the players and the technical staff.
The technical staff, led by Captain Habib Haba, aspires to prepare the team in the best possible way, as the players underwent an intensive preparation period that included technical and tactical training, in addition to friendly matches with the aim of enhancing harmony and collective tactics. The club’s management is keen to provide full support to the team, both at the administrative and technical level, to ensure a positive participation that reflects the spirit of challenge and determination among Dibba Al-Hisn players.
The Gulf Clubs Cup Champions Championship is one of the most prominent regional handball championships, as it witnesses the participation of the elite of the Gulf clubs seeking to compete for the title.
